Ohio Attorney General Seeks Receivership for Cash-Strapped City

The Ohio attorney general asked the state to place the city of East Cleveland into receivership to address longstanding financial issues.

East Cleveland hasn’t been able to stabilize its financial trouble since a fiscal emergency was declared in 2012, Dave Yost said in a Wednesday filing in the Court of Claims of the State of Ohio.

“For more than a decade, the City has operated under fiscal emergency, facing persistent financial challenges that have strained its ability to deliver essential services and maintain lawful operations,” Yost said.
