Nurses at two Philadelphia hospitals up for bankruptcy sale and closure are urging the owner and prospective buyers to keep both facilities open and honor their collective bargaining agreement.
Philadelphia Academic Health Systems (PAHS), which declared bankruptcy on June 30, plans to close the historic Hahnemann University Hospital and sell St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals said in a July 23 court filing that Hahnemann should also be sold in a court-supervised auction so that it can continue operating as a major downtown hospital.
