The US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware sought judicial assistance from South Korea to obtain evidence from LG Energy Solution for an investigation into defective Nikola Corp. battery cells linked to vehicle fires.
Judge Thomas M. Horan signed the letter Monday after the unsecured creditors’ committee began investigating the South Korea-based company’s role in Nikola’s recall of faulty cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells, according to court papers. The court requested the matter be handled quickly, with a response by Oct. 31.
