New York Bankruptcy Judge Who Oversaw Madoff Fallout to Retire

Cecelia G. Morris, the Southern District of New York bankruptcy judge who presided over part of the fallout of the massive Bernie Madoff Ponzi case, will retire on Jan. 31, 2024.

Morris has handled the lingering fallout from the historic Ponzi scheme perpetrated through Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities. For the past few years, she’s overseen a trustee’s clawback litigation that has been proceeding since Madoff defrauded thousands of customers out of billions of dollars through the investment advisory side of his now-defunct firm.
