More states are to waive unemployment benefits charges to avoid assessing higher unemployment tax rates on employers affected by the coronavirus, state governments said March 17.
Employers in Maine, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are not to be charged for unemployment benefits related to the virus, which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19.
North Carolina employers responding to separation information requests should indicate that the separation was related to the virus, the state Department of Commerce said on its website.
