More and more electricity retailers in Japan are going bust as the global energy crisis drives fuel prices higher and pressures the country’s power market.
About 15% of Japan’s more than 700 power retail providers have declared bankruptcy, decided to suspend contracts or pulled out of the retail business as of June 8, according to data from Teikoku Databank. The 104 affected companies is triple the number from March, the data provider said Monday.
