Meyer Burger’s US Units Sued Over Pre-Bankruptcy Layoff Notice

A former worker at Meyer Burger’s Arizona facility sued the solar panel manufacturer’s bankrupt US subsidiaries, saying mass layoffs violated federal law requiring proper notice.

Charles Gilbert, the lead plaintiff, alleged that he and over 150 other full-time and part-time employees were terminated nearly a month before the Swiss company’s US units filed for bankruptcy. The US operations filed for Chapter 11 on June 25 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Gilbert was a production supervisor at the Goodyear, Ariz., facility from October 2024 until his termination on May 28.
