Masten, SpaceX Partner for Moon Mission, Files for Bankruptcy (1)

Masten Space Systems Inc., a Mojave, Calif.-based space company that’s been working with NASA and SpaceX to deliver science and technology payloads to the moon’s south pole in 2023, has filed for Chapter 11 protection.

Masten Space Systems on Thursday filed its bankruptcy petition in Delaware, listing estimated assets and liabilities of $10 million to $50 million.

The company said, in court papers, that it will seek bankruptcy court approval to sell its SpaceX launch credit at auction as part of a stalking horse agreement with Texas-based Intuitive Machines LLC. Intuitive Machines has been selected by NASA to land on ...
