Mallinckrodt to Consider Repeat Bankruptcy, WSJ Says

Drugmaker Mallinckrodt, which is due to make an opioid settlement payment within weeks, is considering options including a repeat bankruptcy filing after emerging from Chapter 11 last year, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.

  • Lender group advised by law firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has been in discussions with the co. about how it can deal with the $200 million payment and possibly restructure its obligations
  • Mallinckrodt hasn’t made a decision and could try to negotiate the settlement payment to avoid filing for bankruptcy
