Former bankruptcy judge Kevin J. Carey, known for presiding over the Tribune Co. bankruptcy, has died, according to Hogan Lovells LLP.
Carey spent 14 years as a judge on the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware before retiring in 2019. Before that, he sat on the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for four years. He joined Hogan Lovells following his retirement, where he was senior counsel in its restructuring and special situations practice.
His colleagues were “devastated” by his loss, the firm said in a statement Friday.
