The International Longshore and Warehouse Union secured approval to settle longstanding litigation with a former Portland, Ore. terminal operator, and end its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The California-based union and a local Portland, Ore. chapter fought allegations of unlawful labor practices before filing for bankruptcy in September to pause a retrial on damages. Judge Hannah L. Blumenstiel of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California granted the voluntary dismissal and approved the $20.5 million settlement Thursday.
