Creditors of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre have proposed a bankruptcy exit plan that would provide at least $340 million to resolve child sex abuse claims.
The plan, filed on Thursday by the committee representing abuse victims, calls on the diocese to provide $41 million in cash, and to sell telecommunication licenses and real estate it owns to settle claims. Another $200 million would come from parishes and other insured entities that are not in bankruptcy in exchange for liability releases.
