Lettuce Grower Kalera Adds to Growing Heap of Failed Ex-SPACs

The operations of lettuce grower Kalera Plc have landed in bankruptcy, adding to a spate of firms failing shortly after going public through a merger with a blank-check company.

Orlando, Florida-based Kalera, which sells leafy greens grown in indoor farms near urban centers, sought protection from creditors in Texas on Tuesday. The Chapter 11 filing allows Kalera to keep operating while it evaluates its options, including a potential sale, according to a statement.
