Kirkland & Ellis moved to toss a lawsuit alleging it knew of a former Texas bankruptcy judge’s secret romantic relationship with a local attorney and wants its accuser and his lawyers slapped with sanctions.
The powerhouse law firm’s call for dismissal and sanctions is part of the ongoing fallout of former bankruptcy judge David R. Jones’ relationship with a onetime partner at Jackson Walker, a Texas firm that regularly represented clients in Jones’ courtroom before he resigned last year. Jackson Walker frequently served as co-counsel to Kirkland in the Houston bankruptcy court.
