Justice Department’s Top Bankruptcy Watchdog to Retire

Clifford White, head of the U.S. Justice Department’s bankruptcy watchdog, will retire this year after 17 years atop of the organization.

  • White leads the Justice Department’s U.S. Trustee Program, which enforces compliance with bankruptcy laws
  • He’ll retire on March 31, according to a statement
  • “I want to express my appreciation to Cliff, not only for his 17 years of leadership of the U.S. Trustee Program, but also for 40 years of exceptional public service,” U.S. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said in the statement
