Jackson Walker LLP moved to dismiss a suit brought by the plan administrator for JCPenney’s 2020 bankruptcy tied to the Texas law firm’s failure to disclose a romance between a onetime partner and the judge who oversaw the department store’s restructuring.
The lawsuit “represents nothing more than a second bite at the apple, attempting to capitalize on an unprecedented situation that, ultimately, had no impact on the Debtors,” Jackson Walker said in a motion to dismiss filed Thursday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
