Jackson Walker Settles With Seadrill in Judge Romance Lawsuit

Jackson Walker LLP settled with formerly bankrupt oil driller Seadrill related to the law firm’s failure to disclose the romance between a onetime partner and a prominent judge.

The firm agreed to pay $485,000 to resolve potential claims from reorganized Seadrill Ltd. and affiliate Seadrill Partners LLC related to the once-secret romance, according to a motion filed on July 25 in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The settlement requires court approval.
