IRS Opposes Grupo HIMA Bankruptcy Plan Over $5.7 Million Claim

The Internal Revenue Service asked a bankruptcy court to reject the proposed liquidation plan of Grupo HIMA San Pablo, Inc., a major hospital network in Puerto Rico, citing its failure to address priority claims for unpaid taxes.

The revenue agency told the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico on Monday that the plan fails to fully cover priority claims amounting to $5.7 million of the total $18 million in asserted claims arising from unpaid employment and unemployment taxes since at least 2018.
