Investor Demands Turnover of Bankrupt California Properties

A vast portfolio of bankrupt real estate in Los Angeles and Laguna Beach, Calif., must be forfeited pursuant to a recent arbitration award stemming from a bitter dispute between joint venture members, according to a new lawsuit.

Plaintiff Mohammad Honarkar filed his complaint Tuesday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, seeking enforcement of the arbitration award involving MOM CA Investco LLC. The company and other bankrupt entities make up a real estate portfolio worth hundreds of millions of dollars comprising Southern California hotels, residential and commercial real estate, and individual homes used as vacation rentals.
