Housing Groups File HUD Complaint, Fault Wells Fargo on REO Maintenance

The National Fair Housing Alliance and four member organizations April 10 filed an administrative complaint with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, claiming Wells Fargo violated the Fair Housing Act by subpar and discriminatory maintenance and marketing of foreclosed homes in minority neighborhoods across eight metropolitan areas.

The 24-page complaint is just the first of more such claims that will be filed against other institutions, with the next filing scheduled for April 17, according to NFHA President and Chief Executive Shanna L. Smith.
