Health System CareMax Defends Bankruptcy Plan Over Objections

Bankrupt health-care system CareMax Inc. challenged the Department of Justice’s federal bankruptcy watchdog and a group of junior creditors who opposed the reorganization plan proposed by the company.

CareMax filed its Chapter 11 plan and related documents at the same time it filed for bankruptcy last month. The US Trustee and a committee of unsecured creditors, appointed on Dec. 4, opposed the plan’s related documents, saying they contained improper nonconsensual third-party releases. The trustee objected last week, and the committee objected Sunday.
