Georgia-Pacific Talc Unit Rebuffs Suit to Limit Bankruptcy Plan

Georgia-Pacific’s talc liability unit Bestwall LLC said a lawsuit seeking to limit the company’s ability in bankruptcy to block future lawsuits over asbestos exposure is premature and unnecessary.

Bestwall, which has spent more than seven years in Chapter 11 trying to settle thousands of product liability lawsuits from cancer patients, on Wednesday urged the US Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of North Carolina to dismiss unripe claims that it believes are “not well founded.”
