Gawker’s $135 Million Sale to Univision Gets Court’s Approval

Gawker Media LLC’s $135 million asset sale to a unit of Univision Communications Inc. won bankruptcy court approval (In re Gawker Media LLC, Bankr. S.D.N.Y., 16-11700, 8/18/16).

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Stuart Bernstein’s ruling on the deal in Manhattan court Aug. 18 marks a rare positive turn for the celebrity- and tech-focused family of media properties founded by Nick Denton.

Univision has agreed to keep 95 percent of New York-based Gawker’s employees on current terms and maintain major agreements, according to court papers. The sale includes all of Gawker’s properties, including the female-oriented Jezebel and technology site Gizmodo. ...
