First Brands Founder Sued by Security Guards for Overtime Pay

First Brands founder Patrick James has been sued by two private security guards who claim they were wrongly denied overtime pay while providing personal protection to the bankrupt auto supplier’s recently departed chief executive officer.

Plaintiffs Sam Livingston and James Boone allege in a civil lawsuit filed Oct. 19 in Ohio that a combination of overnight shifts, travel and standby assignments for James meant they regularly worked more than the standard 40 hour work-week. They frequently worked more than 60 hours a week, they said in their lawsuit.
