Fairport Baptist Homes and two of its affiliated companies filed Chapter 11 in New York, joining a growing number of senior living facility operators seeking bankruptcy.
The non-profit company, based in Fairport, N.Y., is in talks to sell all assets to Rochester Friendly Home, according to its May 6 filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York.
The debtors were already operating under thin margins when testing and protective measures necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic increased expenses, Fairport said. Occupancy also began dropping in April 2020, it said.
