Ex-Weil Partner to Be Sworn in as Bankruptcy Judge Next Week

Recently retired Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP partner Alfredo R. Pérez will take the bench this month in the Southern District of Texas bankruptcy court.

Perez’s background check was completed and he will be sworn in on July 16 at the courthouse in Houston, according to Chief Judge Randy Crane of the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Pérez will fill the judicial seat vacated by David R. Jones, who resigned last fall after admitting to a romantic relationship with a local attorney.
