Ex-Highland CEO Cites Judge’s Novels in Renewed Recusal Effort

Highland Capital Management’s former CEO is again seeking the recusal of the judge overseeing the investment firm’s bankruptcy proceeding, citing novels she wrote that allegedly parody him.

James Dondero and his current investment firm, NexPoint Asset Management, asked Chief Judge Stacey Jernigan of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas to step down from the Highland case in an Aug. 15 filing. They also asked the court to void all of her orders since she began writing novels that they say are “parodying” them.
