Ex-FTX Employee Fights to Give Bonus to Effective Altruist Group

A former Jane Street trader recruited by Sam Bankman-Fried to assist in FTX’s charitable giving is pushing back on the fallen crypto exchange’s opposition to sending $650,000 of his bonus to an effective altruism-tied nonprofit.

Ross Rheingans-Yoo said the FTX Recovery Trust’s opposition to sending part of his bonus to effective altruist cause Manifold for Charity is a baseless and bad-faith “vendetta” against him and his right to make a donation to the nonprofit of his choice, he told the US Bankruptcy Court for District of Delaware in a Sept. 26 opposition motion.
