Halloween is still a month away but a renewed crisis at China Evergrande Group has started to scare investors again.

Aside from plummeting property-developer stocks, the broader contagion has been rather limited so far. Even so, the never-ending saga shows more support for the property market is needed, and it may take years to restore the supply-demand balance in the sector.
