Energy Transfer’s Lake Charles LNG Project Requests Extra Time

Energy Transfer is requesting extra time to put its Lake Charles LNG export project into service, according to a filing made to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

• Lake Charles is asking for a three-year extension until Dec. 31, 2031 to complete project
• Louisiana project has spent $398 million on development, could make final investment decision by 4Q
  • Development began in 2012, delayed by pandemic and President Joe Biden’s permitting pause
• Developer has engaged a financial adviser, in talks with potential partners for equity
