Energy Transfer Offers to Buy Homes After Oil Spill Taints Water

Pipeline giant Energy Transfer LP has offered to buy homes in the vicinity of a Pennsylvania oil spill that contaminated local water supplies.

Hydrocarbons have been found in six water wells in Upper Makefield Township — about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of Philadelphia — following the rupture of the Twin Oaks fuel pipeline. The leak went on for at least 16 months before being discovered in January, according to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
