Energy Regulator Denied Time to Mull Ultra’s Pipeline Contract

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission lost its bid to buy more time to deliberate whether bankrupt Ultra Petroleum Corp.’ s planned rejection of a contract with Rockies Express Pipeline LLC would harm the public interest.

Judge Marvin Isgur of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on Thursday denied an emergency request from FERC for extended time.

The ruling comes after Isgur June 15 requested that FERC participate as a party-in-interest in the bankruptcy proceedings to weigh in on the contract rejection.
