El Salvador to Get $450 million in Loans Ahead of Bond Payment

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration is lending El Salvador $450 million, the president of the multilateral lender said, ahead of a bond payment due from the Central American nation in late January.

The debt financing, which is expected to be available for the government to draw in January, is comprised of a $250 million loan announced Wednesday and two previously approved credit lines of $100 million each. El Salvador has a bond due Jan. 24 with about $604 million outstanding.
