El Paso Children’s Hospital Files to Compel Mediation with University Medical Center

El Paso Children’s Hospital, a 122-bed pediatric facility on the campus of the University Medical Center of El Paso, filed a Chapter 11 petition in its Texas hometown on May 19 after two attempts at mediation with UMC failed (In re El Paso Children’s Hospital Corp., Bankr. W.D. Tex., 15-30784, petition filed 5/19/15).

Until the nonprofit facility opened in February 2012, El Paso was the largest U.S. city without a separately licensed children’s hospital, according to court papers.
