DOJ Objects to Spirit Air’s ‘Premature’ Request for Plan Hearing

Spirit Airlines Inc. hasn’t submitted sufficient documents or provided enough information about its Chapter 11 efforts to speed up the process toward a reorganization plan, the Department of Justice’s bankruptcy watchdog said.

Spirit’s motion for a Dec. 17 hearing for a plan is “unusual” given that the airline hasn’t filed any financial statements or schedules yet and has received an extension until January to do so, according to the US Trustee’s Tuesday objection in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
