Cult favorite Brooklyn-based ice cream chain Ample Hills Creamery is in trouble again, and is furloughing workers and temporarily shutting down operations as it seeks to raise cash.
The Schmitt Industries Inc.-owned business said it was forced to make the move as it looks for a fresh investment. If it can’t raise new money, Ample Hills may shut down indefinitely, according to a statement.
Monday’s announcement is the latest stress for the ice cream maker, which filed for bankruptcy in March 2020. Schmitt purchased the company out of bankruptcy later that years.
