DISTRESS WATCH: Echostar Bonds Out of Trouble After AT&T Deal

It was a game-changing week for EchoStar, the debt-laden US satellite and communications group that has been embroiled in a long-running dispute with its creditors.

The firm last week sold a spectrum of licenses to AT&T, sending its debt soaring and vindicating bondholders who withstood years of brinkmanship. Most of the proceeds of the $23 billion sale will go toward paying down the company’s debt. All of the debt in the Echostar group, including its subsidiary Dish Network, emerged from Bloomberg’s distress tracker for the first time since at least January 2024.
