Diamond Sports Ends Broadcast Deal With NHL’s Arizona Coyotes

The bankrupt owner of Bally Sports branded sports channels has dropped the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes from its lineup before the start of the regular season.

Diamond Sports Group said its broadcast deal with the Coyotes isn’t profitable and that ending the contract now will save the company from having to pay the team substantial rights fees during the upcoming season, which kicks off on Oct. 10. The judge overseeing Diamond’s bankruptcy granted the company’s request to end the agreement on Thursday.
