Delaware Bankruptcy Judge Dorsey, Who Oversaw FTX Case, Dies

Bankruptcy Judge John T. Dorsey, who presided over FTX Trading Ltd.'s Chapter 11 case in Delaware after the crypto exchange’s historic collapse, has died of cancer.

The US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware announced his death in a statement Wednesday.

Dorsey in 2019 joined the Delaware bankruptcy court, the most popular venue for large corporate restructurings in the US. He oversaw the Chapter 11 of FTX, which was one of the most closely watched bankruptcies in decades.

Dorsey was the court’s chief judge from 2024 through 2025.
