Del Monte Opposes Bid for Appeal Over Creditor Bankruptcy Deal

Del Monte Foods Corp. II urged a New Jersey bankruptcy judge not to fast-track an appeal challenging the canned fruit company’s reorganization, saying opposing creditors lack any basis to circumvent the normal appeals process.

A group of Del Monte lenders poised for no financial recovery from the company’s Chapter 11 case are making new arguments of unfair treatment to advance a meritless appeal to the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Del Monte said in a March 27 filing with the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
