Cyber Attack on Stinson Led to Diocese Victim’s Information Leak

A cyber attack on law firm Stinson LLP resulted in information being stolen about an alleged sex abuse victim involved in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse bankruptcy.

The leak was mentioned during an unrelated court hearing Monday in the diocese’s Chapter 11 case. A threat actor seeking to obtain confidential information for ransom in February targeted Stinson, Judge Wendy A. Kinsella of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of New York said at the hearing.
