CREDIT DAYBOOK AMERICAS: Fear Gauges Worsen as Shutdown Begins

Measures of perceived US credit risk worsened some in the opening minutes of Wednesday trading, as the first government shutdown in nearly seven years began.

  • The spread on the Markit CDX North American Investment Grade Index widened as much as 0.61 basis point to 52.68 basis points
    • A similar gauge for the high-yield market, which falls when perceived risk increases, dropped 0.11 point to 107.59
