Corus Bankshares Inc. filed for Chapter 11 protection June 15 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois (In re Corus Bankshares Inc.).
The Chicago-based company, which operates a real estate mortgage loan management business, was incorporated in Minnesota in 1958, according to its website. Corus’s former, wholly-owned banking subsidiary, Corus Bank NA, was placed into receivership by the Office of the Controller of the Currency on Sept. 11, 2009, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation was appointed as receiver of Corus Bank.
