Colombia’s 23 Gold Miners Rescued After Being Trapped for 2 Days

All 23 miners trapped by a collapse at a Colombian gold mine have been rescued after being stuck underground for two days.

The workers, who were underground when the La Reliquia Mine shaft collapsed on Sept. 22, have been safely brought to surface, Aris Mining Corp. said in a statement Wednesday. The group included five Aris employees who were conducting a routine monthly review of the mine’s operations.

The miners had been trapped since around 11 a.m. local time on Monday, though they had been receiving oxygen, food and blankets, and were in constant communication with rescuers, according to government ...
