Shane Azzara is taking over as head of asset-based and transitional finance at Citigroup Inc., succeeding Shapleigh Smith who is retiring next month, according to people familiar with the plan, who requested anonymity as it’s not yet public.
Azzara has worked at Citi for nearly 30 years and was promoted to managing director in 2017. He’s helped steer the ABTF team’s restructuring and bankruptcy financing efforts during that time, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg. In his new role, he will report to John McAuley, Citi’s head of debt capital markets for North America.
