Citgo Lake Charles Had Fire Erupt at Tank When Lightning Struck

Citgo Petroleum Corp.’s Lake Charles refinery in southwest Louisiana had fire break out at a storage tank Thursday when lightning struck the container during a storm, according to a person familiar with the operations.

  • Fire won’t impact output as the tank is located on the north side, an area that no longer includes operations
    • Not immediately known if the tank contained any liquids
  • Fire likely to be allowed to burn itself out since the area is isolated
