Cayman Islands-Based China Medical Technologies Files Ch. 15 in New York

China Medical Technologies Inc. (“CMED”) filed for Chapter 15 protection Aug. 31 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York (In re China Medical Technologies, Bankr. S.D.N.Y., Case No. 12-13736-REG).

According to court documents, the debtor previously filed for winding-up proceedings in the Cayman Islands June 15, where the majority of its assets are located.

The Cayman Islands-based corporation is a holding company for several subsidiaries based in the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong, which in turn own three companies in China that develop and manufacture advanced medical technologies, court documents indicate. ...
