Catholic Abuse Survivors Form Nonprofit Seeking Insurer Payouts

A new nonprofit advocating for child sex abuse survivors has formed to pressure resistant insurers of the Archdiocese of New York and others to pay out on claims.

The Coalition for Just and Compassionate Compensation on Monday said it will push to have insurers pay out on claims stemming from the New York State Child Victims Act. The law, passed in 2019, allowed adults who were sexually abused as children to file legal claims that were previously barred by the passage of time.
