Carlyle Explores Options to Buy Lukoil Assets, Reuters Says

Carlyle Group Inc. is in the early stages of exploring options to buy foreign assets from Russia’s Lukoil PJSC, Reuters reported citing unnamed sources.

Carlyle is looking at the option of filing for a US license and then beginning a due diligence, Reuters said.

There’s a race to ensure that the sprawling oil operations of the Russian energy giant can keep running after the US Treasury Department sanctioned the company and then quashed a key bid for its assets last week.
