California-based accounting firm Anton & Chia LLP filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 about eight months after securities regulators commenced public administrative and cease-and-desist proceedings against it.
The July 15 filing came nine days after firm owner Gregory Anton Wahl filed an individual Chapter 11, also in the Santa Ana, Calif., bankruptcy court.
Wahl and his wife, Georgia Chung, are the owners of Anton & Chia, which is based in Newport Beach, according to a statement released in December by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Both Wahl and Chung are named in the SEC action.
